Песня «Abba – Andante». Это музыкальный термин, который переводится «неторопливо». Я помню еще красивое название allegro non troppo, но что это значит уже… «не спеша» вроде.

Very good. Споем великую песню XX-го века. 92-ая «BoneyM - Mary's Boy Child». Правильный перевод – «младенец Марии», то есть Иисус Христос.

Накладывается одно на другое, и взять, конечно, очень тяжело, а взять не худо бы. Эта песня укорочена. У меня есть текстовка изначального варианта, он чуть ли не в два раза больше. Почти все по Библии. Как они там приехали в город, как там не было места, как они нашли эту пещеру и так далее. Но под нее у меня нету музыкального трека. 

Итак, берем доску. Внимание, последний раз пишется доска с поговорками. Со следующего урока мы уже будем брать фразы на все случаи жизни. Там их почти 2000. Если вы из них даже половину, четверть, треть возьмете – это вам на три жизни. 

Первая фраза: Who has never tasted bitter knows not what is sweet.

Кто никогда не пробовал горького, тот не знает что такое сладкое.

Так можно оставить. Оно и для русских понятно, о чем речь идет. 

You cannot eat your cake and have it.

Дословный перевод: вы не можете есть свой пирог и одновременно иметь его (имеется в виду целым). То есть, если вы начинаете его есть, он исчезает.

У русских я бы взял сюда поговорку «Желание влезть на елку и не исколоться», «желание поймать рыбку…» что-то такое. Нельзя одновременно сочетать два момента. 

To turn the tables.

Повернуть столы.

Русский перевод: «поменяться ролями», то есть из одной позиции попасть в другую. 

А вот «to turn up trumps».

Перевод: «оказаться козырями». То есть, вам выпадают козыри.

И перевод фразы: «что-то удачно сложилось». 

With time and patience the leaf of the mulberry becomes satin.

Со временем и терпением даже лист тутовника становится шелком. Хотя вообще шелк – это silk, но поговорку они дают satin. Ну, сатин напишите. В общем, тканью становится.

То есть русский перевод: «терпение и труд все перетрут». 

И вот вам фраза четко под вас, для вас.

Where there's a will there's a way.

Перевод такой: «там где есть воля/желание там всегда найдется путь (достижения этой цели)». То есть, хотите достичь цели – найдете способ.

Чисто и у русских так же: «хочешь сделать – найдешь способ, не хочешь сделать – придумаешь отговорку/причину», а кого обманешь при этом – человек не думает.
